Click here for a detailed, scaleable road map

Directions

From North (A10): Take exit 36 off the A10 (signed Pons) and follow road to Gemozac (D732). In Gemozac follow the signs to Mortagne-sur-Gironde (D6). This leads you to Boutenac Touvent where you will come to a roundabout. Turn left at the roundabout and go through the village of Brie on D730 for 4.5km when you will see a turning on your right to Saint Fort.  Go right into the centre of the village – the chateau is on the main square.

If you arrive by air from Bordeaux,
the directions are as follows:

From South (A10): Take exit 37 off the A10, which is signposted Mirambeau. Take the D730 signposted Royan - it's a left turn at the T junction after the toll booth. Follow the road until you reach the roundabout and sign post (turn left) to Saint Fort. Directions are then as above.

Chateau de la Place is easily reached by car or by air.

BY CAR
The chateau is about 4.5 hours' drive from St Malo, 5.5 hours from Le Havre or 7 hours from Calais. The motorway which brings you into Charente Maritime is the A10.
The best route from Calais is via Boulogne, Rouen, Le Mans and Tours - simply follow the signs and you can’t go wrong. It's motorway all the way (apart from going around Rouen) and brand new roads make the drive a pleasure and quicker than the route via Paris. See the Michelin website for a detailed route planner.

BY AIR
The chateau is just under 1 hour’s drive from Bordeaux airport (but avoid rush hour), 90 mins from La Rochelle, Poitiers and about 2 hours from Limoges and Bergerac.
